Mahler Symphony No. 1. was recorded by BMC Records and the National Philharmonic Orchestra led by Zoltán Kocsis. The first version of the symphony was premiered in Budapest in 1889 conducted by the composer. At that time it consisted of 5 movements, but later Mahler made some adjustments and reduced it to four. This final version was performed in Berlin in 1896 and it became wildly know. Although the original scores has not been found, another five movement variation remained. The final version was amended with its Blumine movement, and this is how Zoltán Kocsis conducted the work to be heard on the CD.
