Ingrid Kertesi studied the cello for seven years, but at the Franz Liszt Music Academy, graduated from the vocal and opera faculties. After being placed in a number of competitions and receiving numerous professional honours (Franz Liszt, Artisjus, Juventus, Bartók-Pásztory) she was chosen for the Hungarian Republic's Artist of Merit award in 2001. She signed a long term contract with the Düsseldorf Opera and the Bonn Theater der Budersstadt, but has appeared as a guest artist throughout Europe, as well as in North America and Israel. She has an exceptionally wide repertoire, containing almost all the most important soprano operatic roles. She is also a regular performer in oratorios.
