Violin Concert, op.35

The Austrian composer and conductor Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897–1957) was a pioneer of symphonic music for films. His most popular work the Violin Concerto which Jasha Heifetz premi?red in 1947. “In spite of the demand for virtuosity in the finale, the work with its many melodic and lyric episodes was contemplated for a Caruso than for a Paganini,” the composer wrote. The three-movement work takes its themes from Korngold’s own music for films (Another Down, Juarez, Anthony Adverse, The Prince and the Pauper).
