Our 24 May concert – to be held in the Béla Bartók Hall in Debrecen- starts with the Overture of the opera titled Son and Stranger which Mendelssohn brought back from his visit in England as a present for his parents. This is followed by Berg’s Violin Concerto composed in 1935 the Soloist being Katalin Kokas, who was awarded by Liszt Ferenc Prize from the Hungarian State and she received Junior Prima Prize in 2009. The last piece of the concert, Brahms's First Symphony in C minor, soon attracted the epithet of "Beethoven's Tenth." The concert is conducted by Zsolt Hamar.

Music is more or less irrational. Even so is founding and managing a new orchestra. Taking it into consideration, it means even more: The National Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its 90 anniversary.

Bogota, 27-30 March 2013

The National Philharmonic gave three concerts with great success in Bogota on the first Beethoven Festival. Originally Maestro Kocsis were to conduct, however his doctors had recommended him not to travel with the ensemble. János Kovács replaced him in leading the orchestra while Ingrid Fliter, the Argentine Pianist, who was discovered by Zoltán Kocsis and is well known by the audience in Budapest as well, was the soloist of the Piano Concerto in G Major.

Miklós Pászti Memorial Concert

The founder of the National Choir, Miklós Pászti was born 85 years ago. The Miklós Pászti Foundation and the Miklós Pászti for the National Choir Foundation commemorated this anniversary with a concert on 20 April 2013 at the Biatorbágy Cultural Center.
