Boris Berezovsky<\/strong>, a returning guest of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, is a representative of the long-established Russian piano school, and is one of the most renowned and authentic interpreters of Russian piano music. He will be playing solo piano in a concerto by Aram Khachaturian<\/strong><\/em> (best known today for his Sabre Dance). Composed in an unusual key, the concerto made sensation in Western Europe in 1936.<\/p>\n

 
\nBrimming with powerful rhythms and special melodies, the concerto was recorded in 2006 by Boris Berezovsky, a great advocate of Russian music, earning accolades from both the profession and the audiences. Also in the programme is a dazzling prelude to a comic opera, The Silent Woman<\/em> written by Richard Strauss<\/strong><\/em> (around the same time as the concerto) to a libretto by Stefan Zweig. The second half of the concert will feature a classic masterpiece, Thaikovsky’sSymphony No.4<\/em> with magnificent melodies and dramatic force.<\/p>\n

Russian conductor, Dmitri Liss<\/strong> is compared by some to Leonard Bernstein; he is considered among the world’s finest interpreters of Tchaikovsky and of contemporary music, and has a special gift for working with young people.
\nIt is not the first time that the Artistic Director\/Chief Conductor of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra is staged together with Boris Berezosky, thus a special authentic music experience can be expected.<\/p>\n
