The programme features works by Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly on the eve of the fiftieth anniversary of his death, but it is also dedicated to the forgotten maestro, Hans Koessler who made his name in Hungarian music history as the music-academy professor of B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k, Ern\u0151 Dohn\u00e1nyi, Imre K\u00e1lm\u00e1n and Leo Weiner. Composed in 1917 for an important concert in Vienna presenting the military music of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly\u2019s series of soldier\u2019s songs can be rarely heard on the concert stage. This is followed by three classics by Kod\u00e1ly, highlighting his many-coloured oeuvre, including one of his most ambitious oratorios. Born in 1984, the Junior Prima Award-winning maestro has been artistic director of the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra since 2013 and principal conductor of the Savaria Syphony Orchestra since 2014. In the 2015\/2016 season he made his d\u00e9but at the helm of the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and was a returning guest with the Munich Chamber Orchestra. He conducted the Academy of Ancient Music, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and appeared in the United States and New Zealand. As first recipient of the Charles Mackerras fellowship, he conducted numerous productions in the world-famous English National Opera. He has conducted many eminent European orchestras and has been involved in contemporary music projects. For many years, he worked as an assistant to Pierre Boulez at the Lucerne Festival Academy, as well as with P\u00e9ter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s and George Benjamin. Zeneszerz\u0151i munk\u00e1ss\u00e1ga j\u00f3val kev\u00e9sb\u00e9 ismert, pedig Szimfonikus v\u00e1ltozatok c\u00edm\u0171 m\u0171v\u00e9t a komponista \u00e9let\u00e9ben Eur\u00f3pa legjelent\u0151sebb zenei k\u00f6zpontjai mellett m\u00e9g Amerik\u00e1ban is j\u00e1tszott\u00e1k. His compositional oeuvre is little known, even though Symphonic Variations<\/em> was widely played in the composer\u2019s lifetime at European concert venues and even in the United States.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDedicated to the \u201cSpirit of Johannes Brahms,\u201d the Symphonic Variations<\/em> can be regarded as a portrait of Brahms from the perspective of Koessler. He had originally intended to add descriptions to various details of the orchestral work, which consists of a theme and seven variations. These never made it to the score, but the music in itself helps identify the hidden programme. A Pacsirtasz\u00f3 1917. szeptember 14-i Nemzeti Sz\u00ednh\u00e1zbeli bemutat\u00f3 el\u0151ad\u00e1s\u00e1nak sz\u00ednlapja szerint \u201ea t\u00e1nczen\u00e9t saj\u00e1t gy\u0171jt\u00e9s\u00e9b\u0151l \u00f6ssze\u00e1ll\u00edtotta \u00e9s hangszerelte\u201d Kod\u00e1ly Zolt\u00e1n. B\u00e1r a sz\u00ednm\u0171 megbukott, s a h\u00e1rom k\u00f6telez\u0151 el\u0151ad\u00e1s ut\u00e1n leker\u00fclt a m\u0171sorr\u00f3l, a II. felvon\u00e1s k\u00eds\u00e9r\u0151zen\u00e9j\u00e9nek n\u00e9h\u00e1ny r\u00e9szlet\u00e9t azonban Kod\u00e1ly k\u00e9s\u0151bb \u00fajra felhaszn\u00e1lta egy-egy m\u0171v\u00e9ben. A II. felvon\u00e1s nagy t\u00e1ncjelenet\u00e9b\u0151l k\u00e9t sz\u00e1mot m\u00e9g a bemutat\u00f3 \u00e9v\u00e9ben meghangszerelt kiszenekarra (ez a ma ismert Magyar rond\u00f3), ez a v\u00e1ltozat \u201eR\u00e9gi magyar katonadalok\u201d c\u00edmen hangzott el a b\u00e9csi Konzerthausban 1918. janu\u00e1r 12-\u00e9n, a Cs\u00e1sz\u00e1ri \u00e9s Kir\u00e1lyi Had\u00fcgyminiszt\u00e9rium Zenet\u00f6rt\u00e9neti K\u00f6zpontja \u00e1ltal a hadi\u00f6zvegyek \u00e9s hadi\u00e1rv\u00e1k jav\u00e1ra rendezett j\u00f3t\u00e9konyc\u00e9l\u00fa hangversenyen, Wilhelm Wacek vez\u00e9nylet\u00e9vel. E koncert m\u0171sora az Osztr\u00e1k-Magyar Monarchia katonadalaib\u00f3l lett \u00f6ssze\u00e1ll\u00edtva, magyar anyag\u00e1t Bart\u00f3k B\u00e9la, Kod\u00e1ly Zolt\u00e1n \u00e9s Kod\u00e1ly Zolt\u00e1nn\u00e9 dolgozta fel. A m\u0171 kott\u00e1ja ugyanakkor a koncert ut\u00e1n nem ker\u00fclt nyilv\u00e1noss\u00e1gra, s mikor Kod\u00e1ly 1942-ben \u00fajra \u00e1tdolgozta csell\u00f3ra \u00e9s zongor\u00e1ra, a Magyar rond\u00f3 c\u00edmet kapta. The Te Deum of Buda Castle<\/em> received its world premi\u00e8re on 2 September 1936 in the Church of our Lady (better known as Matthias Church) under the baton of the church\u2019s choral conductor Viktor Sug\u00e1r.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe work became instantly successful and within a few years it was performed around Europe and even overseas. Because it calls for a larger number of performers than most churches can cope with, it is usually a part of concert programmes. Kl\u00e1ra Kolonits began her singing studies as a private student of Katalin Schultz and in 1995, graduated from the Budapest Teacher Training Faculty of the Franz Liszt Music Academy as a solo singer, where her teacher was Zsuzsa Forrai. She later studied with Ionel Pantea and Anne Reynolds. From 1995 to 1997, he was a member of the Debrecen Csokonai Theatre and from 1997 to 1998, a guest at the Szeged National Theatre and the Szolnok Szigligeti Theatre before joining the Budapest Operetta Theatre where she was a member from 1998 to 2001. Since 2002 she has been a member of the Budapest State Opera House. In 1997, she won 2nd prize at the Third Budapest International Singing Competition and in 1997, the special prize at the Italian Toti dal Monte competition before winning 1st prize and the special award at the 2000 Hungarian Radio Singing Competition. In 2003, she came second and won the special prize at the International Haydn Singing Competition. In 1999, she participated in Duna Television's series of opera tales from Cluj. In 2005, she sang Judit in the film version of Bart\u00f3k's opera Prince Bluebeard's Castle. She has also been a guest performer in Austria, Holland, France and the United States. She studied with Zsuzsa Forrai at the Teacher Training Faculty of the Budapest Academy of Music before becoming a student of Judit N\u00e9meth. She also attended various master classes with Julia Hamari, Anna Reynolds, Adrienne Csengery, Walther Berry and Walter Moore. In 1998 she won the Sim\u00e1ndy J\u00f3zsef Singing Competition, 2000 she got III. Prize in the Singing Competition of the Hungarian Broadcasting. For a few years she was member of the Szeged National Theatre, Hungary, than she was appeared at the Budapest State Opera and St\u00e4dtische B\u00fchnen Frankfurt, the Semperoper Dresden as well as the Brussels Theatre de la Monnaie, Theater an der Wien and the Prague Narodni Divadlo.\u00a0 She made her debut in 2010 at the Opera National de Paris She can also regularly be seen on the concert platform, for example in Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Musikverein Wien. He was born in Debrecen in 1983. After his graduation from Kod\u00e1ly Zolt\u00e1n Secondary School of Music (solfeggio and music theory; church music) in 2002, he started his studies in the conservatoire of the University of Debrecen. He has been learning singing since the age of eighteen with dr. \u00c9va Mohos Nagy. He won the J\u00f3zsef Sim\u00e1ndy Memorial Singing Competition in Szeged in 2006, the Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition in 2007, and received a special award in the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna a year later. He made his debut in the role of Melitone in La forza del destino in the Csokonai Theatre, Debrecen in 2005. In the next season he could be seen in the role of Sergeant Lescaut in Manon Lescaut and Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor.
