Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky\u2019s overture-fantasia, The Tempest<\/em> evokes the dramatic atmosphere of Shakespeare\u2019s drama of the same name, while Emil Petrovics\u2019s Cantata No. <\/em>5, Letters from Turkey<\/em> brings to life the figure of Kelemen Mikes, Ferenc R\u00e1k\u00f3czi\u2019s scribe and chamberlain who remained loyal to the ruler until his last breath. By contrast, Beethoven\u2019s \u201cPastorale\u201d Symphony No. 6 in F major<\/em> glorifies the harmony of man with nature. The Luk\u00e1cs season ticket of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra offers exciting thematic programmes and this evening is no exception. The bass solo of the cantata will be performed by Zsombor Cserm\u00e9nyi, a member of the Hungarian National Choir, and the audience will get to know talented young composer in the person of G\u00e1bor Hontv\u00e1ri.<\/p>\n

Audiences will be familiar with Tchaikovsky\u2019s heart-rendingly beautiful Romeo and Juliet overture-fantasy,<\/em> but the equivalent treatment of The Tempest<\/em>, also inspired by a Shakespeare drama, promises to be a voyage of discovery for those attending the second concert of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s Luk\u00e1cs season ticket. The evening\u2019s young conductor, G\u00e1bor Hontv\u00e1ri, will then lead the orchestra through one of the noteworthy works of Hungarian music of recent times, Emil Petrovics\u2019s Cantata No. 5<\/em>, which evokes the figure of Kelemen Mikes and his Letters from Turkey<\/em> with the help of the Hungarian National Choir\u2019s bassist Zsombor Cserm\u00e9nyi. Following the interval, the audience will hear one of Beethoven\u2019s most glorious and captivating orchestral works, the \u201cPastorale\u201d Symphony No. <\/em>6 in F major.<\/em> The composition\u2019s figurative, programmatic movements capture the spiritual harmony of man living in nature. The Luk\u00e1cs season ticket promises a special treat for discerning music lovers as each evening introduces a piece of music inspired by Shakespeare (or two, in the case of the third performance), before presenting a worthy Hungarian work from recent\u00a0 times, and closing by allowing us to immerse ourselves in the waves of emotion and passion of a popular Beethoven symphony.<\/p>\n
