Hector Belioz worked on the composition from 1850 to 1854 and the work deals with the episode of Jesus\u2019s life when the holy family fled to Egypt. The concert by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir will be conducted by Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi, a man committed to preserving the riches of French musical culture, while the soloists for <em>L\u2019enfance du Christ<\/em> will be Cyrille Dubois, Anna Dowsley, Lysandre Ch\u00e2lon and Thomas Doli\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the Hungarian National Philhamonic Orchestra and Choir have put on countless productions that have proved to be exciting discoveries for the audience. With chief music director Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi at the helm, they are now preparing to present another special work at the Hungarian National Philharmonic\u2019s traditional Christmas concert: Hector Belioz\u2019s monumental three-part oratorio, <em>L\u2019enfance du Christ<\/em>. The composer wrote the work to his own text between 1850 and 1854 and elected to tell the story of the holy family\u2019s escape to Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>There is a noteworthy story associated with the first bars of a particular section of the piece. Berlioz, who frequently experienced antipathy and bad blood during his career, presented a later movement of the composition that he intended as antecedent to the oratorio under a pseudonym. Those who had been passionate in rejecting his work received the music of the \u201cunknown 17th century composer Ducr\u00e9\u201d with great His interest in historical performance was greatly influenced by Helmuth Rilling, John Eliot Gardiner, John Toll, Malcolm Bilson and Simon Standage.\r\n\r\nVashegyi has been a regular guest conductor for several Hungarian symphony orchestras and the Hungarian State Opera since the year 2000.\r\n\r\nHe founded the Purcell Choir and the Orfeo Zenekar in 1991 and has been responsible for countless important opera and oratorio productions, as well as cantata and orchestral programmes.\r\n\r\nHis name is associated with dozens of contemporary world and Hungarian premieres, while he has also released some 30 albums with his groups. Since 2014, he has developed a close relationship with the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, releasing the following French Baroque recordings through the Glossa music label: the world premier of Rameau\u2019s <em>Les F\u00eates de Polymnie \u2013 Ballet h\u00e9roique<\/em>; the album <em>Mondonville: Grands Motets<\/em>; a world premiere of <em>Isb\u00e9<\/em>; the opera pastiche <em>Un op\u00e9ra pour trois rois<\/em> and a theatrical performance of Rameau\u2019s <em>Nais<\/em>.\r\n\r\nVashegyi has taught at the Academy of Music since 1992 and is currently an associate professor.
