The ceremonial event would go on to become a much-referenced date in music history: that evening of the 19th of November saw the premieres of three works \u2013 Dohn\u00e1nyi\u2019s Festival Overture<\/em>, Bart\u00f3k\u2019s: Dance Suite<\/em> and Kod\u00e1ly\u2019s Psalmus Hungaricus<\/em> \u2013 all taking place at the concert. Paying tribute to the capital\u2019s 150th anniversary jubilee, the Hungarian National Philharmonic will repeat that same programme on the exact same date of the earlier event, and at the same venue.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dohn\u00e1nyi\u2019s Festival Overture<\/em> develops three different melodies \u2013 his own composition Hungarian Credo<\/em>, along with two well-known tunes: B\u00e9ni Egressy\u2019s musical setting of Mih\u00e1ly V\u00f6r\u00f6smarty\u2019s Appeal<\/em> and Ferenc Erkel\u2019s of Ferenc K\u00f6lcsey\u2019s Himnusz<\/em>, the Hungarian national anthem. Originally intending to use motifs from the folk music of the peoples along the Danube in his Dance Suite<\/em>, Bart\u00f3k ended up omitting the Slovak melody, although he did add an Arab segment. All this expresses the composer\u2019s beautiful concept of \u201cthe ideal of the brotherhood of peoples\u201d through the means of music. Kod\u00e1ly\u2019s Psalmus Hungaricus<\/em> sets to music Mih\u00e1ly Kecskem\u00e9ti V\u00e9g\u2019s paraphrase of the 55th Psalm<\/em>, offering for Hungarians \u2013 a few years after the Treaty of Trianon \u2013 the example of the faith in God of a man who is surrounded by enemies and oppressed. The Hungarian National Choir and Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s tenor soloist, Istv\u00e1n Horv\u00e1th, has extensive experience with the oratorical repertoire in addition to his operatic work. Taking the podium in addition to Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi, the Chief Music Director of the Hungarian National Philharmonic, will be guest conductors from two other excellent orchestras: K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Z\u00e1borszky of the Szent Istv\u00e1n Philharmonic and Andr\u00e1s Keller of Concerto
