„…tervezek egy szimf\u00f3ni\u00e1t vagy von\u00f3sn\u00e9gyest; m\u00e9g nem tudom, melyiket” – \u00edrta Csajkovszkij 1880. szeptember 21-i level\u00e9ben. „…elkezdtem \u00edrni valamit”, tud\u00f3s\u00edt okt\u00f3ber 3-\u00e1n – s okt\u00f3ber 7-\u00e9re felv\u00e1zolja a m\u0171 els\u0151 h\u00e1rom t\u00e9tel\u00e9t, ekkor m\u00e9g „von\u00f3szenekari szvit”-k\u00e9nt eml\u00edtve a kompoz\u00edci\u00f3t. Okt\u00f3ber 18-\u00e1ra elk\u00e9sz\u00fcl a teljes darab, m\u00e1r csak hangszerelni kell, s megvan a c\u00edm is: Szeren\u00e1d von\u00f3shangszerekre. „Rettenetesen szeretem ezt a szeren\u00e1dot…” \u00edrta a komponista nem sokkal k\u00e9s\u0151bb a kiad\u00f3j\u00e1nak, s a k\u00f6z\u00f6ns\u00e9g azonnal csatlakozott hozz\u00e1: m\u00e1r a nagy siker\u0171 december 21-i, moszkvai bemutat\u00f3n felismerte, hogy remekm\u0171vet hall, s a Von\u00f3sszeren\u00e1d az\u00f3ta is Csajkovszkij egyik legn\u00e9pszer\u0171bb darabja.
\nA m\u0171 a klasszikus, n\u00e9gyt\u00e9teles szimf\u00f3ni\u00e1k \u00e9s von\u00f3sn\u00e9gyesek form\u00e1j\u00e1t k\u00f6veti, a „scherzo” funkci\u00f3j\u00fa kering\u0151vel a m\u00e1sodik helyen. A zeneszerz\u0151 mindegyik t\u00e9telnek k\u00fcl\u00f6n c\u00edmet adott. Az els\u0151 t\u00e9tel c\u00edme: „Darab szonatina-form\u00e1ban”. A f\u00e9nyes, t\u00f6m\u00f6r von\u00f3shangz\u00e1ssal megsz\u00f3lal\u00f3 lass\u00fa bevezet\u00e9s k\u00fcl\u00f6n\u00f6s hangs\u00falyt kap a m\u0171ben: visszat\u00e9r a nyit\u00f3t\u00e9tel, illetve a finale v\u00e9g\u00e9n is, mintegy keretbe foglalva a teljes kompoz\u00edci\u00f3t. A lehelet k\u00f6nny\u0171, „t\u00fcnd\u00e9rt\u00e1nc”-szer\u0171 mell\u00e9kt\u00e9ma Csajkovszkij balettzen\u00e9inek rokona (egyes elemz\u0151i szerint a Von\u00f3sszeren\u00e1d a szerz\u0151 „negyedik balettje” – nem v\u00e9letlen\u00fcl sz\u00fcletett meg k\u00e9s\u0151bb erre a zen\u00e9re Balanchine h\u00edres koreogr\u00e1fi\u00e1ja). Nem csak a nyit\u00f3t\u00e9telre, de az eg\u00e9sz m\u0171re jellemz\u0151 a zene finoman \u00e1tt\u00f6rt, gyakran polifon sz\u00f6vete: szinte minden pillanatban \u00e9rezhet\u0151 a von\u00f3sn\u00e9gyes-ind\u00edttat\u00e1s.
\nAz artikul\u00e1ci\u00f3 finoms\u00e1gaival ellen\u00e1llhatatlanul t\u00e1ncoss\u00e1 tett, t\u00fcnem\u00e9nyes „Walzer” t\u00e9telt m\u00e1r az \u0151sbemutat\u00f3n meg kellett ism\u00e9telni, s az\u00f3ta is szinte \u00f6n\u00e1ll\u00f3 \u00e9letet \u00e9l. Az egyetlen, romantikusan sz\u00e1rnyal\u00f3 t\u00e9m\u00e1t feldolgoz\u00f3 harmadik t\u00e9tel („\u00c9l\u00e9gie”) \u00faj sz\u00ednt hoz a m\u0171be: bevezet\u00e9se mintha egy n\u00e9gysoros orosz n\u00e9pdalt id\u00e9zne. Sem a szimf\u00f3nia, sem a szvit hagyom\u00e1nyait nem k\u00f6veti a m\u0171 hangnemi terve: C-d\u00far – G-d\u00far – D-d\u00far – C-d\u00far. A D-d\u00far 3. t\u00e9tel ut\u00e1n a C-d\u00far alaphangnemhez val\u00f3 visszat\u00e9r\u00e9st a szerz\u0151 egyedi megold\u00e1sal val\u00f3s\u00edtja meg: a negyedik t\u00e9tel el\u00e9 lass\u00fa bevezet\u00e9st \u00edr, amely visszavezet C-d\u00farba, s amelynek a v\u00e9g\u00e9n mintegy a f\u00fcl\u00fcnk hallat\u00e1ra sz\u00fcletik meg a z\u00e1r\u00f3t\u00e9tel f\u0151t\u00e9m\u00e1ja. A „Finale (temarusso)” c\u00edmmel maga a szerz\u0151 is hirdeti, hogy a finale alapanyaga imm\u00e1r val\u00f3di orosz n\u00e9pdal – nem is egy, hanem kett\u0151: az egyik a lass\u00fa bevezet\u00e9s, a m\u00e1sik a gyors szon\u00e1tat\u00e9tel f\u0151t\u00e9m\u00e1ja. Ugyanakkor a gyors t\u00e9telbe val\u00f3 \u00e1tvezet\u00e9s szellemess\u00e9ge, s a f\u0151t\u00e9ma kontrat\u00e1nc-karaktere egy b\u00e9csi klasszikus szerz\u0151, Joseph Haydn nev\u00e9t juttatja esz\u00fcnkbe. A finale v\u00e9g\u00e9re m\u00e9g egy meglepet\u00e9st is tartogat Csajkovszkij: a nyit\u00f3t\u00e9tel lass\u00fa bevezet\u00e9s\u00e9nek visszat\u00e9r\u00e9sekor teszi eg\u00e9szen nyilv\u00e1nval\u00f3v\u00e1 a hallgat\u00f3 sz\u00e1m\u00e1ra, hogy a bevezet\u00e9s, illetve a gyors finale-t\u00e9ma ugyanarra a n\u00e9gyhangos mot\u00edvumra \u00e9p\u00fcl.<\/p>\n

‘I am planning a symphony or a string quartet, I do not know which I shall decide upon,’ Tchaikovsky wrote in a letter dated 21 September 1880. The work, eventually entitled Serenade for Strings, follows the classical four-movement pattern of symphonies and string quartets, with a waltz functioning as a ‘scherzo’ in the second movement. The composer gave each movement a different name. The first movement is called ‘Pezzo in forma di Sonatina’ (Piece in Sonata Form). Beginning with bright, densely-wrought string sonority, the slow introduction assumes a particular emphasis in the work: the starting movement returns several times, including at the end of the finale, serving as a frame to the entire composition. The Serenade for Strings is characterised by a delicate, often polyphonic fabric where the string-quartet ‘impulse’ is evident in almost every measure. The phenomenal ‘Waltz’ movement had to be encored at the world premi?re and has virtually lived on as a piece in its own right. The slow movement (‘\u00c9l\u00e9gie’) brings new colours to the Serenade, and it is as if the composer were evoking a Russian folk song. The closing movement, as the title ‘Finale (tema russo)’ indicates, is truly based on a Russian folk song – two in fact: one in the slow introduction, and the other as the main theme of the fast sonata movement. Tchaikovsky has a surprise for the end of the finale. The era marked by the name of J\u00e1nos Ferencsik and Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro was followed by a new chapter in the history of the orchestra when in 1997 Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis became general music director until his death. In almost two decades the National Philharmonic Orchestra underwent renewal. After the death of Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis, the Ferenc Liszt Award-winning Zsolt Hamar held the post of Musical Director at the Hungarian National Philharmonic from March 2017 to August 2020. He previously worked with the orchestra as its first permanent conductor and built up an impressive international career.\r\n\r\nThe Orchestra is one of the top interpreters of the work of B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k, and the albums of the Bart\u00f3k New Series<\/em> have won numerous accolades in Hungary and abroad. The orchestra perform not only classics but also numerous other important works previously missing from the repertoire, many of which require a large orchestral apparatus. It supports young musicians recently embarked on an international career. In recent decades, the National Philharmonic Orchestra has appeared in the greatest venues and festivals around the world, including the Avery Fisher Hall in New York, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Megaron in Athens, Bozar Centre in Brussels, the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Beethoven Festival in Bogot\u00e1, as well as the Colmar and Canary Island Festivals.
