In the words of Bart\u00f3k, it was <em>&#8220;the first perfect realisation of cyclic sonata form, with common themes being treated on the variation principle.&#8221;<\/em> The main reasons for the work&#8217;s exceptional popularity are the brilliant piano part, the dense format, and the sparkling instrumentation brimming with chamber music influences. The soloist for the evening, \u00c1d\u00e1m Balogh, took second place at the 2019 Bart\u00f3k World Competition.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Goldmark&#8217;s five-movement first symphony, <em>Rustic Wedding<\/em>, was conceived in the spirit of a programmatic symphony along the lines of those of Berlioz and Liszt, and as a symphonic poem. Completed in 1875, the work was premi\u00e8red in Vienna by Hans Richter. Brahms had words of praise for the piece: &#8220;That is the best thing you have done so far; clear-cut and faultless, it sprang into being a finished thing, like Minerva from the head of He only began to refine the full details while living in Weimar in the 1850's. His work was characterised by immense care and self-criticism, and in all, he produced five versions.\r\n\r\n<!--more-->\r\n\r\nIt was premiered finally in Weimar on February 17th 1855: Liszt was the soloist while the visiting Berlioz conducted. Although the work is in four movements, they are forged together into a single immense unit. The opening section begins with the energetic, heroic theme played by the orchestra, which is then followed by the piano in a bravura cadenza, marked by Liszt \"grandioso.\" The principal orchestral theme undergoes various transformations but returns again and again in such a way as to be instantly recognisable - except in the tender slow movement. This is in B major, marked Quasi Adagio, and a beautiful cantabile melody emerges, played first by the muted strings to a chordal piano accompaniment. The solo cello receives an important role, but towards the end of this section, the flute suddenly interjects the playful anapaestic theme. Beats on the triangle indicate the Scherzo has begun. In the final movement, there is no new theme. We hear what has already been presented, but utterly transformed in character. The melody that is at the centre of the dreamy slow movement has now become an abrasive march theme.{:}","post_title":"{:hu}I. The era marked by the name of J\u00e1nos Ferencsik and Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro was followed by a new chapter in the history of the orchestra when in 1997 Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis became general music director until his death. In almost two decades the National Philharmonic Orchestra underwent renewal. After the death of Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis, the Ferenc Liszt Award-winning Zsolt Hamar held the post of Musical Director at the Hungarian National Philharmonic from March 2017 to August 2020. He previously worked with the orchestra as its first permanent conductor and built up an impressive international career.\r\n\r\nThe Orchestra is one of the top interpreters of the work of B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k, and the albums of the <em>Bart\u00f3k New Series<\/em> have won numerous accolades in Hungary and abroad. The orchestra perform not only classics but also numerous other important works previously missing from the repertoire, many of which require a large orchestral apparatus. It attaches great importance to introducing contemporary Hungarian works to the audiences. It has given many popular chamber music concerts and hosted events for young people.\r\n\r\nThe orchestra\u2019s concerts have featured world-famous soloists and conductors. It supports young musicians recently embarked on an international career. In recent decades, the National Philharmonic Orchestra has appeared in the greatest venues and festivals around the world, including the Avery Fisher Hall in New York, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Megaron in Athens, Bozar Centre in Brussels, the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Beethoven Festival in Bogot\u00e1, as well as the Colmar and Canary Island Festivals.
