The Italian name (meaning “songs and quartets”) of this concert is a nod to two great Italian masters of the Italian bel canto<\/em> style. Over the course of the evening, the audience will get to hear arias and ensemble pieces of exceptional beauty by Rossini and Donizetti. They will get to enjoy the candid joyfulness, drama and richness of character of this key style of Italy’s inimitable music as interpreted by the artists of the Hungarian National Choir and pianist D\u00f3ra Bizj\u00e1k. He also completed master classes with Johannes Moesus, J\u00fcrgen J\u00fcrgens and Yuri Simonov. He has been active as a choir leader since the age of 22 and served for nearly 17 years as the choirmaster of the Vasas Ensemble Chorus. In 2002, he founded the Lajos Vass Chamber Choir, which he led until 2017. He has also worked as the music director of Debrecen\u2019s Csokonai Theatre and later the National Theatre of P\u00e9cs, as well as holding the position of chief choirmaster of the Hungarian Radio Choir. He has appeared as a guest conductor and choirmaster with numerous Hungarian symphonic orchestras and professional choirs. Somos has also made guest appearances with orchestras in other countries, including the Salerno<\/em> Philharmonic Orchestra<\/em> in Italy and, in Japan, the Sakata Philharmonic Orchestra. He is frequently invited to Spain, Italy, Russia, Romania, Greece, Macedonia, Austria, Germany and China as both a choirmaster and conductor. A teacher at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, he is regularly asked to serve as a jury member of musical competitions and festivals. He serves as the vice president of the Hungarian Association<\/em> of Choirs, Orchestras and Folk Ensembles (K\u00d3TA). His professional work was recognised with a Rub\u00e1nyi Award, which was followed by a Liszt Award in 2014. In 2015, he earned his DLA, graduating summa cum laude. D\u00f3ra Bizj\u00e1k graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Musci Academy in 1996 as a concert pianist and a year later\u00a0as a repetiteur.She studied at the Illinois State University for one year in 1999. She took part in master courses led by such\u00a0renown artists as Andr\u00e1s Schiff, Dimitrij Bashkirov, Leon Bates Imre Rohmann, TAm\u00e1s Ung\u00e1r and Tam\u00e1s V\u00e1s\u00e1ry. She won numerous prizes\u00a0and scholarships. She has performed with all\u00a0 Hungarian symphonic orchestras and with his husband, K\u00e1roly Zentai playing four hand pieces and works for two pianos she toured Europe and the USA. They won the International Four Hand Piano Competition in Padova in 2000 and - as a result- they recorded their first album in 2001. As a repetiteur she worked for Zsuzsa Misura\u00a0and Sylvia Sass in their singing school as well as at the Ferenc Liszt Academy. She also\u00a0participated in\u00a0radio and CD recordings, competitions and festivals. Between 1990 and 2016 it was headed by M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Antal, who was succeeded by Csaba Somos on 1 January 2016. The choir is one of Hungary\u2019s leading professional choirs. It boasts a rich repertoire chiefly consisting of orchestra-accompanied and a capella choral music, as well as oratorios, ranging from works by the early-Baroque Sch\u00fctz to Bach, Viennese Classical, 19th<\/sup> and 20th<\/sup>-century composers, and contemporary music. The Hungarian National Choir is open to every genre and is dedicated to performing rarely heard works. While the backbone of the repertoire consists of 19th<\/sup>-century oratorios, the Hungarian National Choir attaches great importance to performing contemporary music. Numerous world and national premi\u00e8res are linked with its name.\r\n\r\nThey are\u00a0 returning guests at the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s summer Beethoven series in Martonv\u00e1s\u00e1r.
