They wore Rossini hats and Rossini ties and ate Rossini food. Rossini&#8217;s works packed out the musical theatres of Vienna in the strictest sense of the word. Beethoven also hosted the Rossinis and praised the Barber of Seville. Schubert considered the Italian master an <em>&#8220;outstanding genius&#8221;<\/em> and had also begun to compose in the Italian style in the anticipation of his future success. At 37 years of age, Rossini almost completely retired to indulge in gastronomy and savour the fruits of life: <em>&#8220;To live and to love, to sing and to digest: These are the four acts of this peculiar opera we call life, which disappears into nothing like the froth from a bottle of champagne. He who leaves it, who flees from it instead of enjoying it, is truly crazy!&#8221;<\/em> he declared.\u00a0 The conductor <strong>J\u00e1nos \u00c1cs<\/strong>, who has worked with a number of world stars, made his debut in Genoa in 1979, before performing for many years as the celebrated conductor of the Three Tenors concerts. She also studied at Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n University's Ap\u00e1czai Csere J\u00e1nos Faculty of Humanities from 2014 until 2017, earning a degree in speech therapy.\r\n\r\nIn 1998, she earned first place at the Rolando Nicolesi Competition in Taranto, in addition to reaching the finals of singing competitions in Krakow, Passau and Deutschlandsberg. In 2007, she received a scholarship from the Wagner Society of Budapest after winning its competition.\r\n\r\nBetween 2000 and 2003, she sang the following roles as a guest performer at the Wiener Staatsoper and Wiener Volksoper: Donna Anna (<em>Don Giovanni<\/em>), First Lady (<em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em>), Helmwige (<em>Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em>) and Fourth Maid (<em>Elektra<\/em>).\r\n\r\nIn 2004, her guest roles at the Hungarian State Opera consisted of Donna Elvira (<em>Don Giovanni<\/em>), First Lady (<em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em>), and she also served as a cover for the roles of Elsa Helmwige in <em>Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em> under the baton of \u00c1d\u00e1m Fischer.\r\n\r\nIn 2010, she took the stage of the Op\u00e9ra Bastille to portray Ortlinde in <em>Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em>, with Philippe Jordan on the conductor's podium.\r\n\r\nIn October of 2015, she sang the role of Juli in the world premi\u00e8re of S\u00e1ndor Balassa's <em>Cataclysm<\/em> at M\u00fcpa Budapest, in January 2018, she sang the role of the Innkeeper's Wife in the world premi\u00e8re (and other premi\u00e8res) of Gy\u00f6rgy Selmeczi's opera <em>Our Lady's Knight<\/em> at M\u00fcpa Budapest and in She took part in master courses led by such\u00a0renown artists as Andr\u00e1s Schiff, Dimitrij Bashkirov, Leon Bates Imre Rohmann, TAm\u00e1s Ung\u00e1r and Tam\u00e1s V\u00e1s\u00e1ry. She won numerous prizes\u00a0and scholarships. She has performed with all\u00a0 Hungarian symphonic orchestras and with his husband, K\u00e1roly Zentai playing four hand pieces and works for two pianos she toured Europe and the USA. They won the International Four Hand Piano Competition in Padova in 2000 and - as a result- they recorded their first album in 2001. As a repetiteur she worked for Zsuzsa Misura\u00a0and Sylvia Sass in their singing school as well as at the Ferenc Liszt Academy. She also\u00a0participated in\u00a0radio and CD recordings, competitions and festivals. Over the course of that more than a quarter of a century, the ensemble became Hungary\u2019s leading professional choir, known for its performances of vocal compositions accompanied by orchestra, oratorios and a cappella works.\r\n\r\nAccordingly, its repertoire is extremely rich and open in every direction, encompassing the early Baroque composer Heinrich Sch\u00fctz, Bach, the Viennese Classical School, and the composers of the 19th and 20th centuries and of today, without prejudice to genre.\r\n\r\nCsaba Somos has served as the ensemble\u2019s artistic director since 1 January 2016.\r\n\r\nIn addition to performing concerts in Hungary, the ensemble regularly accepts invitations to appear abroad, having sung in numerous nations in Europe, as well as in Israel and Japan. They also regularly visit communities with ethnic Hungarian populations in the countries that neighbour Hungary.\r\n\r\nThe Hungarian National Choir places great emphasis on performing contemporary works, along with the 19th-century oratorios that are so prominent in their repertoire. Not only did the choir serve as the chorus in the Hungarian National Philharmonic\u2019s highly acclaimed series of productions of the operas of Richard Strauss, several of its members also took the stage as soloists.
