On paper, a poem is but dead text \u2013 which will immediately come to life when it is sounded: recited or sung. Now the National Choir and distinguished actors will sound the poems of Attila L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Nagy, S\u00e1ndor We\u00f6res and J\u00e1nos Pilinszky, among others.<\/p>\n
The concert begins with Gy\u00f6rgy Orb\u00e1n\u2019s choral cycle. Written between 1978 and 1983, these works were motivated by a personal tragedy. \u201cThe pieces of the series,\u201d writes L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Matos, \u201care linked by the motifs of death, and faith in life and God, the whole forming a distinctive requiem in both form and content.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn choral music,\u201d says Gy\u00f6rgy Orb\u00e1n, \u201cwe must return to the very simple elements of music.
