Peter Sonn Tenor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born and raised in Salzburg, and a graduate of the Mozarteum, Peter Sonn made his operatic breakthrough at the Salzburger Festival while still a student. The Austrian tenor, with his warm voice and lyric timbre is making his way into the ranks of the first class singers of the opera world and sings the major roles of his repertoire from Berlin to Milan, Zurich, and Vienna at the foremost international opera houses. His lyric tenor voice is at home with Mozart and branches with ease into the romantic roles of Prince Igor, Lenski, Max, and Don Jos\u00e9. Recently he made his debut as Eisenstein in Strau\u00df\u2019 Die Fledermaus at the Teatro alla Scala. He regularly works with renowned conductors and stage directors.<\/p>\n

Benjamin Russel\u00a0 Bariton <\/strong><\/p>\n

Benjamin Russell is a member of the ensemble of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. His many international awards include the Joan Sutherland prize for \u201cMost Promising Singer\u201d (2010). His roles have included Papageno, Figaro, Falke, Donner and Schaunard. He has also performed recitals of Mahler\u2019s Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen and Schumann\u2019s Dichterliebe. This season he will perform Bach\u2019s Cantata Ich habe genug with the Wiesbaden Sinfonieorchester under the baton of Patrick Lange and baritone soloist in Puccini\u2019s Missa di Gloria with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra with Zsolt Hamar.<\/p>\n

After working as Lorin Maazel\u2019s assistant at the Salzburg Festival in 1998, he spent the years from 2000 to 2009 as the music director of the Pannon Philharmonic while simultaneously serving as first guest conductor of the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto.\r\n\r\nA regular guest with orchestras and at concert halls around Europe, Japan and the USA, he has also appeared with nearly every symphonic ensemble in Hungary. Hamar has regularly conducted at the Hungarian State Opera since 2001 and is a welcome guest at opera houses in other countries as well. Between 2005 and 2011, he worked as a permanent conductor at the world-famous Opernhaus Z\u00fcrich. In contrast with Johann Wolfgang Goethe's work, the librettist of Brahms's work gave Armida a \"silent\" role in that she merely appears in Rinaldo's imagination. In a series of recitativos and more or less close arias, the knight evokes and relives the events of the recent past. First he conjures up the beauties of the island, the palaces and flower gardens, which is followed by a bitter awakening (the fellow knights arriving to his rescue confront him with his softened former self by means of a diamond mirror) and his breaking with Armida, transforming the witch into a destructive demon, who destroys the palaces and everything beautiful and magical. Struck by pain, Rinaldo leaves with the knights.
