Bertrand de Billy was born in France and has been active mainly in Germany and Austria. The programme features the Siegfried Idyll, which is a descendant of 18<sup>th<\/sup>-century serenade music. It is followed by Mozart\u2019s popular concerto from the 1780s, with Radovan Vlatkovi\u0107 playing horn solo. Bertrand de Billy is principal guest conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (2013-2016). Since 2014\/2015 he is also principal guest conductor of the Dresdner Philharmonie.\r\n\r\nAlready at an early stage of his carrier engagements brought him to the state operas in Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Monnaie, Op\u00e9ra National de Paris and to the opera houses in Washington and Los Angeles amongst others. Since 1997 he has been a regular guest at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and since 2002 at the Salzburg Festival. Worldwide, he performed with leading orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestre de Paris, the Wiener Symphoniker as well as Museumsorchester Frankfurt, Philharmoniker Hamburg, the RSB Berlin, Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, Dresdner Philharmoniker, K\u00f6nigliche Kapelle Kopenhagen, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and many more. Bertrand de Billy conducts a wide repertoire from Bach to many world premieres and premieres. Wagner presents the vigorous melodies of fulfilled happiness from the opera, placing those depicting all conquering heroism on the back burner.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Wagner's biographers, this more relaxed and balanced tone faithfully reflects the happiness of the composer's private life: his works were being performed more frequently, and the Munich premiere of Meistersingers (1868) brought him his long awaited major breakthrough. In 1869, Cosima gave birth to Wagner's first son (Siegfried Richard), and he was close to completing the Ring Cycle. By 1870, there were no longer any obstacles preventing him marrying Cosima Liszt. This composition was first performed in the early morning on the steps of the Tribschen Villa, in front of Cosima's door, Wagner having adjusted the score to chamber music proportions.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Siegfried Idyll is actually a late manifestation of the 18th century serenade music. Its musical material commences with the enchanting melody accompanying Br\u00fcnnhilde's awakening. The K. 447 is thought to have been composed in the same year as Don Giovanni. The natural horn it would have been played on originally had no valves, meaning that pitch changes could be achieved through, among other things, modulating lip tension and placing the hand in the bell. The main theme and secondary theme of the opening movement are highly melodious, and the slow movement feels like an opera aria, together with the characteristically Mozartian chromatic passages.
