Beatrix Fazekas completed her high school studies at the ELTE Radn\u00f3ti Mikl\u00f3s School and the B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k Conservatory. She later graduated in IT from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and from the cello department of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. In 1984, she won first prize in the Antal Friss National Cello Contest. In 1985, she received a full scholarship for a summer course at the Interlochen Arts Camp in the US.<\/p>\n
From 1996 to 2002 she was a teacher at the Szent Istv\u00e1n Kir\u00e1ly Music College. She has been a member of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra since the year 2000.<\/p>\n
She enjoys regularly performing in various chamber music formations with her colleagues. I have had a close relationship with music since childhood. I was only ever able to study properly if I was listening to classical music. I have played in orchestras since I was ten years old, and my husband is a former colleague. When I saw Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi live, conducting the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra, as it was known at the time, I knew I wanted to play the cello in that orchestra.
