G\u00e1bor Bretz was born in Budapest in 1974 where he still regularly performs with the Hungarian State Opera. He began his vocal training with Stephan Czovek in Los Angeles, and subsequently studied at the B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k Conservatory of Music and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. G\u00e1bor has also attended master classes with Julia Hamari, Ralf Doring, Eva Marton and Yevgeni Nesterenko. He was awarded the Cesare Bardelli prize at the 2004 Viotti International Singing Competition, and was the winner of the 2005 Maria Callas Grand Prix Competition in Athens. In addition to his operatic appearances G\u00e1bor Bretz sings regularly in concert, and his repertoire includes the major oratorios of Bach, Haydn, Mozart (including the Coronation Mass under Helmut Rilling), Rossini, Puccini, Beethoven\u2019s Symphony No. 9, Tippett\u2019s A Child of our Time, Berlioz\u2019s L\u2019Enfance du Christ (under Sylvain Cambreling), and the Verdi Requiem in Budapest with the National Philharmonic under the baton of Zoltan Kocsis.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-86802","artists","type-artists","status-publish","hentry"],"translation":{"provider":"WPGlobus","version":"3.0.2","language":"en","enabled_languages":["hu","en"],"languages":{"hu":{"title":true,"content":true,"excerpt":false},"en":{"title":true,"content":true,"excerpt":false}}},"acf":{"old_id":"493","rovid_nev":"G\u00e1bor Bretz","katalogus_nev":"G\u00e1bor Bretz","kiemelt_kep":false,"bevezeto_szoveg":"
