\u00c1gnes Szalai has been a member of the Hungarian National Choir since 2009. She has worked alongside conductors including Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis, M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Antal, Zsolt Hamar, Csaba Somos, G\u00e1bor Hollerung, Gergely Kessely\u00e1k, D\u00e1niel Somogyi-T\u00f3th, M\u00e1t\u00e9 Szab\u00f3 Sipos, \u00c1d\u00e1m Medveczky and Sebastian Weigle. Her repertoire includes songs, oratorios and opera arias.<\/p>\n
She began singing as a 13-year-old in Gy\u0151r, a city where she also completed her later studies. \"The world is noisy, it does not allow for the Sound in your soul to ring out. The eternal search of the performing arts stands between earthly clamour and the quietude of heaven.
\nIn 2007, she graduated from the vocal soloist department of the Varga Tibor Institute of Musical Art. Her teacher, Erika Markovics, was a solo singer at the Hungarian State Opera House.
\nIn the same year, she was accepted on to the song and oratorio Master’s degree course at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, studying in Katalin Halmai’s class.
\nDuring her university years, \u00c1gnes also took part in master classes from J\u00falia Hamari, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Polg\u00e1r and Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi.
\nShe has been a member of the Hungarian National Choir since 2009, and has been performing solo pieces since that time.
\nThe first such significant work was Stravinsky’s Les Noces<\/em> piece, with M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Antal as conductor.
\nShe has also taken on theatrical roles in parallel with her singing work: first in Debrecen, then at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden theatre in Germany in 2013 and 2014, where she spent a year singing in various operas and concerts.
\nIn 2015, she was awarded the Artist of the Year prize by the Hungarian National Choir.
