My first real professional role model was J\u00e1nos Rem\u00e9nyi \u2013 then the chief choirmaster of the Hungarian Radio Children\u2019s Choir \u2013 from whom I learned how to maintain a humanist attitude, along with the artistic and professional humility and the dedication to high standards that has affected my whole life, and who developed a kind of emotional and intellectual need inside of me. It was there that I first experienced high-quality, professional rehearsal work \u2013 as we prepared for, for example, Stockhausen\u2019s opera Montag aus Licht<\/em>, which we performed at Milan\u2019s La Scala.<\/p>\n

During my primary school years, I studied violin with L\u00e1szl\u00f3 D\u00e9nes before continuing my musical studies at the Bart\u00f3k Conservatory under G\u00e1bor Ugrin and Erzs\u00e9bet Hegyi Leg\u00e1ny and with a specialisation in solf\u00e8ge and music theory. I earned my first degree in voice-music and choral conducting from E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University\u2019s Faculty of Teacher Training (with J\u00e1nos Rem\u00e9nyi serving as my adviser for choral conducting, and Mikl\u00f3s Mohay for solf\u00e8ge and music theory).<\/p>\n

I started my vocal training with \u00c1gnes So\u00f3s Deli, then studied solo voice pedagogy and voice-chamber singing at the Faculty of Music of the University of Szeged, where Edit D. Sz\u00e9csi was my adviser in voice and voice pedagogy and M\u00e1ria Temesi was my vocal coach.\u00a0 During my years there, I attended courses taught by \u00c9va Marton, Sylvia Sass and Adrienne Csengery, and professionally I also owe many thanks to Ilona Adorj\u00e1n, Bernadett Wiedemann, M\u00e1ria Ard\u00f3, Ildik\u00f3 Szak\u00e1cs and Zita V\u00e1radi. I have given solo recitals at Budapest\u2019s N\u00e1dor Hall and at the Hungarian Culture Institute in Moscow. As a soloist, I mainly participate in Baroque, 20th-century and contemporary works as a permanent soloist of the \u00d3buda Chamber Choir (artistic director: \u00c1kos Erd\u0151s) and as a member of the Cantus Corvinus Choir (artistic director: G\u00e9za Klembala). My love for choral singing started to develop even when I was a child. When I was singing with the Hungarian Radio Children\u2019s Choir, I felt that this activity was my terrain, the one I felt at home in. I looked at the members of the adult choirs with admiration, thinking about how wonderful it would be to be engaged as an adult with what is now for me that most joyful way to spend one\u2019s time. I am grateful that this became my profession.
\nFor me, the exercise of my Christian faith and singing are closely linked and actually serve one another. Sacred music to me is an opportunity for prayer, giving thanks and praising God.
\nAlthough chamber singing is the closest to my personality and my soul, when 80 singers sing together, this has a special vibration that multiplies the singer\u2019s possibilities, adding strength and energy through community and a love of music \u2013 it affects both the performers and the audience alike, and this cannot be created through any other musical formation. I think choral work builds character and purpose: to pass on the joy experienced during the performance of the choral work by multiplying it.
